Portable Computer Keyboard

The portable keyboard is a perfect wireless bluetooth accessory for your laptop or PDA.

Anytime you’re traveling for business, you’ll want to take a portable computer keyboard with you.  Typing on a laptop for long hours to meet your deadlines while you’re on the road, can be very uncomfortable.  Depending upon your available seating arrangements, you could be forced into an awkward position, while you try to see and use your laptop.  The best way to avoid this, is by purchasing a portable computer keyboard that you’re completely familiar and comfortable with.  This way work will go as smoothly and quickly as possible, and your trip will become much more enjoyable.

You will have many choices when choosing a portable computer keyboard, and the right type for you really depends upon your personal preferences.  There are two main types of keyboards that you’ll find on the market, hard plastic and silicone based boards.  Hard plastic resemble standard keyboards exactly, because they’re the same thing with one major difference.  A hard plastic portable computer keyboard features a hinge in the middle so that you can fold the board in on itself, to make it easier to carry for travel.  This is the best type for most people, and will allow you to work quickly and comfortably.

However, if your travel space is very limited, even a folded standard keyboard will be too bulky for you.  Instead, you’ll want a silicone portable computer keyboard.  They are extremely pliable so they can be folded or rolled into practically any shape.  This makes them extremely convenient, so that you can fit the board in practically any bag very easily.  Nothing compares to that convenience.  Although they can be a pain to type on if you aren’t familiar with the way that silicone feels.  This will be like typing on a television remote, because the rubbery keys feel about the same.  If that seems too annoying or difficult, this isn’t the board for you.

Another thing you’ll want to consider in your portable computer keyword purchase, is buying a portable mouse.  Using a separate keyboard, but then being forced to use your laptop’s mouse is counter productive.  Instead you’ll want to purchase a small travel mouse.  You can find options that feature USB cords so that they can be connected on the fly.  They are also usually much smaller than a standard mouse, and often feature retractable cords for extra convenience.

When you’re looking to purchase any type of portable computer keyboard, you can find options literally anywhere.  From Walmart, to Sears, to Best Buy, you can find several options for standard and silicone models.  There are even mini keyboards if you find a full size silicone one is still much too large for you.  Typically silicone portable computer keyboards are the cheapest option, usually priced around $15 to $20.  Hard plastic will usually be double that on average, but remember that this is also the closest resemblance to a standard keyboard and will be easier to work with.  If at all possible, try the keyboard before making a final purchase, so you can ensure your comfort when you’re using it later.
